Experienced ranch couple looking for long term grazing lease, ranch lease with option to buy, or to build a strong relationship with a like-minded land owner or fellow producer. We currently have a semi-secure winter situation in southern Idaho so we would prefer southern Idaho, northern Nevada or eastern Oregon but will consider all opportunities in the Northwest to relocate for a stable, long term, year-round lease.

We currently calve our 300 head of black angus in January and February and have sold our calves for the last 15 years on Superior Livestock Auctions for an early September delivery. Typically weighing around 600 pounds at delivery, AgriBeef Co. has purchased both our steers and heifers for the last six years and reports that our calves grading choice or better in the 96-percentile range. Heifers have sold to a number of replacement heifer development operations in the past as well.

We retain our own heifers but have been purchasing a small number of registered Angus females from reputable purebred breeders in the area and used artificial insemination to produce and raise a few bulls each year for our commercial herd while also focusing on making better females. Last year we retained our best bull calves and sold four at the High Desert Select Bull Sale.

Our cattle winter in electric fence sections of farm ground. They are easy to handle and respect all fences and being moved either by horseback or by ATV. They have grazed BLM, Forest Service and private pasture from sagebrush steppe to high elevation mountain country.

Willing to work on making improvements to the ranch property, utilizing good range management practices, and identify and treat noxious weeds. Willing to apply for grant funding through NRCS and assist in implementing funded projects. We know farming practices and are willing to irrigate and harvest winter forage crops. We have equipment to build fence, feed cattle, put up hay and all the other needed tasks.

College educated at the University of Idaho where we focused on animal science, range management, ag business and wildlife management.

Just finished a nine year term on the Local Advisory Committee for Northwest Farm Credit Service (now AgWest Credit), who we have developed a great relationship with and maintained a stable operating loan.

Can provide bank, grazing, past employment and personal references on request.
