Silver Spur Operating Company, LLC, Kiowa Division – Operations Foreman/Kiowa West Manager:

The SSOC, Kiowa Division is located on the front range of Colorado in Elbert, El Paso and Douglas counties. The Kiowa Division is the seed stock provider for the SSOC commercial cow herds in New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska. This position works directly under the SSOC General Manager out of Encampment, WY, and in coordination with the Kiowa Division Manager.

The Kiowa West is responsible for the daily operations in Douglas County on approximately 28,000 acres. Kiowa West runs approximately 200 RangeFire composite, registered cows as well as approximately 1300 summer grass yearlings. Kiowa West puts up approximately 400 ton of improved grass hay in round bales of sub irrigated and seasonal dry land hay meadows.

Experience in Artificial Insemination, estrus synchronization and heat detection are necessary skills. Range and pasture management and rotation scheduling are part of the job. Detailed records on the cow herd, calving records and breeding records will be required. A solid background in managing and calving cows in winter conditions as well as identifying and treating illness in calves and yearlings is required. Cow work is done on horseback.

Experience in welding and fabrication, windmill and solar well repair and operations, fencing and light mechanic are preferred.

Salary is dependent upon qualifications. Housing, ranch vehicle, care for ranch used horses, ½ beef annually, 401K matching and full family health plan are part of the employment package.
