Description:
The Heart-O-Rose Dairy is located near Montpelier Idaho in Bear Lake Valley. It is a 100 cow organic family farm. Our cows are mostly Holsteins, Brown Swiss and Montbeliarde. We enjoy cross breeding for hybrid vigor and longevity. Because we are an organic dairy, the cows graze three months out of the year on pasture ground located about a half a mile from the barn. We raise alfalfa hay and barley grain on about 400 acres. The farm ground is irrigated with hand lines, wheel lines and pivot. Some ground is dry farm. The climate allows for two cuttings per year. When cows are not grazing they are fed a mixed ration of hay and grain with a mixer wagon and tractor. We milk cows twice daily. In the winter heifers are fed with a team and sleigh. We enjoy breeding and training Percheron draft horses. Cows are often brought in from grazing on horseback. The cows are bedded with straw, by hand, in freestalls and dry cows and calves are bedded on straw packs. We enjoy riding snowmobiles to occasionally check animals when feeding is not needed. Our dairy is family friendly and we enjoy a mix of modern technology and time honored family farming traditions.



Responsibilities includes milking, feeding calves, doctoring sick animals, mixing feed, cleaning corrals, operating hay and grain equipment, irrigating, fencing, fixing equipment, carpentry, and other diversified opportunities a farmer experiences.



Vehicle for work provided, housing provided



No drinking, smoking, or foul language, attention to detail, self-motivated, honest, and work until the job is done.
