Description:
The Diamond Cross in Birney, MT is looking to hire a seasonal ranch hand for the Hanging Woman Unit. Employment would be from March 1st through October 31st. The unit is 1.5 hours from Sheridan, WY and about 40 miles to the nearest paved road.



There are 140 heifers to calve from March 15th through May 1, 400 cows to take to grass around April 1st, as well as some heifers in a grass finishing program to take care of.



You’ll help with calving, feeding, fencing, branding around 1100 calves, dry land haying, pasture rotations, water system maintenance, etc. We strive for a 5.75 day work week, however that will be extended during calving and haying.



Benefits include: workman’s comp insurance, furnished modular house, some beef, ranch vehicle for work use, phone & internet. Have to do your own cooking.



Up to 4 personal horses allowed, mares ok. Your horses will have their own pasture. 2 working dogs allowed but they must stay home when we are branding, working with heifer pairs, and stay out of the corral unless they’re asked to come in. Attitude is more important than experience and will possibly hire someone with little experience but you must have your own tack, know your way around a horse, and be a confident rider at a minimum.
