Description:
We have an opportunity for a highly motivated and disciplined individual to assist with all aspects of production farming near our operation in Broken Bow, Nebraska.







This person will be responsible for:







Ensuring that safety is a priority. Supporting the Adams Land & Cattle Safety Program and exemplifying safety expectations. Reporting safety incidents to Farming/Manure Management Manager.



Performing general agronomy skills, including, but not limited to: field scouting for weeds, insects, disease, and nutritional issue, measuring plant populations, completing plant tissue analysis, and harvest maturity staging.



Assisting with development of planting and irrigation prescriptions and schedules.



Assisting with management of field trials.



Gathering, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting crop production data to better understand crop needs and developing effective and efficient farming practices.



Examining, researching, and solving problems related to crop management, yield, and quality.



Interacting with suppliers, applicators, and agronomy laboratories.



Remaining up to date on crop nutrition and production technologies.



Completing planting, fertilizing/chemigation, herbicide/insecticide application, cultivating, irrigating, chopping, harvesting, haying, strip tilling and planting cover crops in a production farming setting.



Operating GPS-controlled farming equipment.



Completing preparatory dirt work, field maintenance, and improvement projects.



Hauling silage.



Spreading manure per outlined plan.



Maintaining equipment and vehicles in a good state of repair to prevent unnecessary downtime by ensuring they are utilized, cleaned, greased, and washed properly.



Ensuring preventative maintenance and repair work are completed in a timely fashion to prevent unnecessary downtime.



Completing annual equipment rebuild schedule during winter months.



Maintaining pond effluent pumps/infrastructure, completing effluent pipeline inspection and pumping of sludge, as required.



Assisting with completing required inspections, logs and records, including, but not limited to corn/fertilizer/insecticide application, effluent pipeline inspections, effluent application, manure/effluent testing, sludge/pond levels, pond inspections, chemigation permits, irrigation water testing and bank inspections.



Spraying and/or other seasonal activities.



Communicating with all areas/departments.



Respectfully collaborating with internal and external resources, as appropriate. Building and maintaining strong internal and external business relationships.



Maintaining work areas in an organized, clean, and safe fashion.



Identifying continuous improvement opportunities in work area.



Completing other duties, as assigned.



Recognizing that weather conditions may require constant change in activities and that cattle comfort is first and foremost regarding this activity.



Supporting all efforts needed during storm recovery.







Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:







Commitment to safety and quality culture.



Knowledgeable about corn crop productions, including all the variables involved such as soil and land management, nutrient and water needs, pest control and minimizing environmental impact.



Strong research, decision making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.



Awareness of industry trends, technology, and developments.



Previous farming experience.



Familiar with the day-to-day crop production operations.



Mechanical interest and aptitude with a knowledge of general mechanics.



Pivot irrigation experience preferred.



Experience with GPS-controlled equipment preferred.



Driven, organized, action-orientated, analytical, and ability to multi-task.



High attention to detail.



Team-oriented.



Strong communication and customer service skills.



Proven professional communication, presentation, persuasion, and customer service skills.







This position requires:







A valid drivers license.



Exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, 25-50 pounds of force frequently and 10-20 pounds of force constantly.

Standing, sitting, walking, carrying, and lifting/lowering frequently; pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, reaching/handling/grasping, and kneeling/crouching occasionally; crawling and stairs rarely.

Individual must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.







Compensation Details:







Starting Wage: $18.00-$23.00 per hour.



$5,000 Hiring Bonus.
