Farm/Ranch Manager Trainee

Have you ever wanted to farm, raising crops and livestock but didn’t know how to get a start in the business? This might be your opportunity.

We are NOT looking for a farm hand. We are looking for someone who has some knowledge and desire to grow into management responsibilities. We do not expect the applicant to manage the farm but to learn to manage a farm.

Grandview Livestock & Grain is in search of a Farm Manager Trainee. We are a “profit-minded, regenerative” crop and livestock farm located approximately 60 miles south of Kansas City.

You will learn to be responsible for:

Planning and planting cover crop mixes, the cash crops following them and the economics of both.

Making crop budgets and cash flow projections.

Evaluating soil health, plant health and the impact of both on profitability.

How to make fertility recommendations and implementation.

Management intensive grazing of small ruminants.

Cash flow and profitability projections for various crop and livestock enterprises.

Learn and understand low stress livestock handling.

You will attend training seminars and learn no-till farming into diverse cover crop mixes.

The candidate shall have an open mind and a willingness to learn. Little to no experience with the aforementioned responsibilities is acceptable as long there is an effort to learn them all.

Salary will be dependent upon experience. Housing may be provided. Beef/pork is provided annually.
