Description:
This is a full-time, year-round position on a family-run ranch in Big Piney, WY. We usually run between 350-500 head of red and black Angus cattle. Pay is negotiable depending on your level of experience. Housing is provided, with pasture and hay for your horses, AND YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN HORSES. All utilities are paid except wifi, tv and phone. Housing is in town, for now, 3 bedroom, 2 bath, modern appliances, including washer and dryer, and some furnishings.



Skills you MUST have include:



Familiarity with cattle, including riding on a hay meadow or on the forest permit in the summer, sorting and loading a truck, working with them on foot, calving out and tagging calves with seasoned momma’s and heifers, ability to spot sickness, etc.



Some knowledge of flood irrigation and how to set a dam.



Familiarity with haying equipment in general, we use a disc mower, a rake and a round baler.



You must know your way around a fence post, and how to work with barbed wire. We have various implements to help with the job.



You should be able to work by yourself and with a team, there are certain times of year when we work together, or when we all go out on our own with a job to do.



Any experience with welding and working on equipment will put you to the top of the hiring list and we definitely pay more for that kind of experience.



You must have a good driving record and valid Driver’s License
