If you need a horse that will take care of you on the ranch, one that is quiet, safe, and well broke, then take a look at Champ. He is a good looking 12 year old blood bay, 15.1 hh and stout enough to carry a big man. Champ is as solid as they come, just a good old ranch horse that knows his job. He came off of a ranch In West Texas, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including roping out in the pasture, dragging calves to the fire, sorting pairs and working pens. He would be perfect for a weekend rancher who wanted something safe to check cattle on, or even for a child to learn to work the ranch on with his dad or grandpa. He is currently being ridden by a 73 year old man. Champ has more whoa than go, but is not lazy. He just knows the difference between having to work and just riding for pleasure, and if you never ask for anything more than a walk, that’s all he will give you. But he will willingly step into a trot or lope if asked, and has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off. Champ has a good handle and stop, smooth gaits, and will sidepass and work a gate. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He gets along great with other horses, will ride out alone as well as with a group, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group while riding. Champ has been ridden down the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Asking $5,500. Champ has an old injury to his right front that he sustained when he was a colt. It does not prevent him from doing his job or cause him any pain, but he does have a bump on his pasture and a slightly different shape to his hoof.
