If you are looking for a nice horse to ride on the ranch, take on trails, or pack friends around when they come for a visit, then take a look at Skunky. He is a been there, done that type of horse that nothing bothers, and is safe for the entire family. Skunky is a 17 year old paint gelding 15.2hh and very nicely built, stout and big boned with a good size foot. Before we bought him, he belonged to the same family for the last 12 years, and has always had the best of care. Skunky has done a little bit of everything, from penning and sorting cows on the ranch, to riding on trails, to riding English and giving lessons to kids. He is extremely friendly and well mannered and absolutely loves attention. He is easy to catch, even in a big pasture, not barn sour or herd bound, and has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick , or take off. Skunky rides quietly on a loose rein, and has been taught to travel out and cover some ground. He is excellent to ride out in the pasture and on trails, and will go up, over or through anything you point him at. He is a big horse with a bog stride and plenty of life left in him, so he is best suited to older youths or adults who are comfortable on a bigger horse. However, Skunky is excellent as a lead line horse for the younger kiddos to learn on, and we have let my 4 year old son ride him quite frequently on the lead line. Waving arms and yelling while moving around in the saddle doesn’t bother him, and balls being thrown around him and underneath him don’t bother him either. Skunky rides great by himself or with other horses, will happily lead or follow, will pony other horses with no problem, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has been ridden down the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it, isn’t bothered by dogs running around, and gets along with all other horses out in the pasture.
