Salary: DOE Room & Board: Included in wage negotiation click to view fullsize image Description: We are a family farm/ranch raising cow/calf pairs as well as dryland wheat, barley, and alfalfa. We are seeking an employee to start as soon as possible for all aspects of farm and ranch work including: – feeding livestock – cattle health – calving in the spring – haying in the summer and assisting with harvest in the fall – fencing all year round – horseback riding and/or ATV operation to gather, drive, and check cattle – driving a semi-truck and, if experience is limited, learning how to operate other farm or ranch equipment including tractors, processors, sprayers, skid steers, grain trucks, and more – other farming duties depending on experience – some tasks may be less-than-desirable, including cleaning stalls and pitching in to keep areas clean and tidy –mechanical work, including vehicle, equipment, and facilities maintenance A valid driver’s license is required. We offer individuals or families the opportunity to run some cattle alongside ours and/or move into a cattle management position after a probation period in which the employee shows initiative, responsibility, and commitment. This is a rural location with a lack of cell service in most areas. We’re 150 miles away from the nearest “larger” metropolitan area and 45 miles from the closest town that provides more than the essential services our small town offers. Our two homesteads, in-town corrals, and a calving barn are based directly on the outskirts of our small town of 200 residents. The entire acreage of our ranch checkerboards various swaths of land in all directions of town, mostly within a 10 to 15-mile radius. Our town has a K-12 school, grocery store, post office, and a few other basic amenities. Housing and basic utilities will be provided. Wage will be dependent on level of experience.
