Smitty is a 13 year old, grade dun gelding that I have been loving and I am proud to offer in another Designer Horse Sale! This gelding rides outside or inside, his video is showing him inside, due to the icy conditions in Montana. He is the type of gelding that most anyone can get along with. At 15 hands he’s the perfect size for any member of the family, and rides quiet and easy for a kid to enjoy going down the trail, but will back in the box when mom or dad want to rope. He’s extremely easy to ride, with a good neck rein and comfortable gaits. He’s helped me start colts, stays quiet inside and out, knows his leads, ground ties, and is a complete gentlemen to lead, load and tack. I put him in a trailer full of colts all the time and he never bats an eye, and will walk out or back out no matter the footing. He would also be a good teacher for a handy kid wanting to rope, whether you’re pen/ranch roping or team roping, all you have to do is hold the reins and swing, he’ll take care of the rest! Outside, Smitty is sure footed and safe. I rode him bareback through the ice and snow after he had a month off and he let me climb up and hang out for as long as I wanted. This gelding could easily be added to anyone’s string to go ranch one day, take the kids out for a ride the next, and head to a jackpot or ranch rodeo on the weekend. He needs no maintenance, no prepping, no funny business whatsoever. I am not a super experienced roper and I LOVE roping off this horse, he makes it fun and easy every time, and he stays the same whether you’ve been doing it everyday or it’s his first time in months. He’s really a tried and true good gelding that I love to have around.
