Description:
Looking for an experienced wrangler at a small private working ranch.

This is an historic, small privately owned & operated traditional Wyoming ranch. Owned by the same family for five generations. Used by the family for recreation, hiking, horseback riding and fishing. The ranch also grazes horses and raises hay.

The ranch crew lives and works together to provide exceptional care of the ranch owners. Working and living on this remotely located property offers a lifetime of unique experiences in the wild Wyoming landscape. The ranch is very remote, so staff must enjoy a quiet, ranch setting. It is a beautiful mountain location with access to thousands of acres of private and public land for hiking, fishing, and riding. The ranch is close to the NE entrance to Yellowstone National Park and 1.5 hours from Cody, Wy and Red Lodge, MT.

Requirements:

• Ability to interact with all ages of the 5 generations of the owner’s family.

• Horsemanship skills.

• Knowledge and experience with contemporary training methods, health care and riding/conditioning in the mountains.

• Experience in hauling a 6 horse, goose neck stock trailer on mountain roads with a manual transmission.

• Must be able to work well as part of the crew, with the head wrangler and independently.

Responsibilities include:

• Assist with all aspects of caring for a horse herd of 30.

• Riding down horses and preparing them to be ridden by owners.

• Ensuring owners and their guests have a safe and satisfying ranch experience.

• Accompanying owners and guests on trail rides.

• Managing and maintaining tack and equipment.

• Barn and corral upkeep.

• Riding fence lines.

• Assist with hay production.

• Assist with fence repair.

The ranch crew works together, with flexibility and excellent communication skills to maintain a positive attitude in all situations. We promote a lighthearted, fun atmosphere and do not appreciate drama.

Monthly salary, all meals and private living quarters with private or semi-private baths are provided. Position starts May 30th and ends Sept 15, 2023.

Previous ranch experience is preferred, and excellent people and horsemanship skills are required.
