Description:
We are looking for a full-time employee to join our team on a progressive cattle and bison ranch near Big Timber, MT. The primary duties will be operation and maintenance of center pivots, equipment and rolling stock. The role requires a person who is adept at mechanical systems and enjoys a challenge. There are 19 center pivots as well as a fleet of equipment. Work entails keeping irrigation systems functional, operation and maintenance of equipment and vehicles, and the ability to assist with numerous other ranch duties to assist the cattle crew, as well as infrastructure and building projects. There will be some cattle management opportunities depending on the interest and abilities of the employee.

We are interested in someone who truly enjoys challenge and is eager to contribute with a positive can-do attitude, and embraces agriculture. Honesty, integrity, safety conscious, and a lifelong learner are personality traits that are essential. We embrace regenerative agriculture and strive to incorporate the practices to better our ranch ecosystem and the livestock we produce. The depth of experience we are looking for depends on the candidate’s aptitude and skill set. We are willing to train as needed, and provide continuing education opportunities. It is essential the candidate has a mechanical mindset and is motivated to problem solve to ensure the task is completed. This work requires the person work alone frequently, and is motivated and dependable. It is important that the candidate be capable and competent with technology for web-based applications to operate pivots and collect and track data throughout the operation. Fluency in Excel, Word and ability to learn GPS technology as well as reading and understanding maps is necessary.

Our primary business is raising grass finished beef and bison in a direct-to-consumer model. We also have a beef cow/calf operation, beef stockers as well as bison on a fairly large scale.

Additional work to include but not limited to mixing and application of soil amendments and biological treatments, temporary poly electric fencing, permanent electric fencing, barbed wire installs and maintenance, flood irrigation, stockwater systems maintenance and installation, maintain salt/ mineral and supplements, weed control, corral maintenance and construction, building maintenance, assist with calving grazing and livestock management, general ranch cleanup and property improvements, periodically help move and work livestock. Operation of ATV and UTV will be frequent.

Housing, utilities (electric, gas, internet and cell phone stipend) and ½ beef are provided
