Description:
Beef Northwest Feeders is hiring for a Cattle Manager at our Nyssa Feedyard.



This position reports to the Feedyard Manager, and is directly responsible for care and health of all feedyard cattle. He or She will lead and work with the pen riders, cattle doctors, and processing crew to meet day to day operational goals. This position is boots on the ground with some office paperwork and supervisory requirements. They will work closely with the Yard Manager, Feed Manager, Cattle Analyst, Yard Maintenance Manager, and consulting veterinarian.



The ideal candidate has:



- 3-5 years experience identifying, treating and working with sick cattle.

- Proven Horsemanship and stockman ship skills.

- Basic computer skills and the ability to use or learn email, word, excel and feedyard software

- The ability to lead, support and direct others

- Must be self – motivated and driven to achieve results



Specific Job Functions:



- This position will be boots on the ground, leading and communicating with the teams to meet day to day operational goals.

- Oversee and support shipping and receiving cattle department. Evaluates condition, type and background of cattle and writes receiving form.

-Communicates cattle receiving’s to all affected feedyard staff.

-Prepares processing work order and schedules processing of cattle with processing crew.

-Supervises cattle movements including movements from home pen to hospital, pen backs and pen-to-pen moves. Supervises reconciliation of the hospital and buller pen inventories.

-Supervises veterinary treatment of sick cattle by Cattle Doctor and treatment entry into the vet computer system. Oversees treatment regimes, cattle health, and sick animal recovery

- Coordinates with the Feed Manager regarding feed schedules and cattle movements

- Prepares weekly medicine and processing supplies order, counts inventory at month end and prepares inventory reconciliation.



Compensation Package:

-Base Salary + Annual Bonus (Dependent on Experience)

- Health, Dental, Vision insurance after 60 days $68/month single $204/month family

- 401k Retirement with 5% match after 90 days

- Paid Time Off
