Applicants with a background in starting weaned calves in the fall, feeding with a TMR wagon during the winter and caring for yearlings on grass during the summer are encouraged to apply. We run fairly modern equipment, trucks and trailers and seek someone careful and competent at operating and maintaining our machinery. While four wheelers are on hand when necessary we do the majority of our cattle work horseback. We check health horseback year around. Responsibilities would include but are not limited to: • Feeding and riding health on 3500+ weaned calves from November to May. • Processing incoming and outgoing cattle. • Caring for 3000+ yearlings on approx. 50,000 acres of grass from June – October. • Putting out salt and mineral, doctoring and other cattle care related tasks. • Fixing fence and some small fence construction projects. Maintaining electric fences. • Some irrigating may be necessary; however, we have a crew for the majority of the farming responsibilities. • Maintaining ranch property, buildings, roads and equipment. This may include water line repairs, stock tank repairs and construction of ranch improvements. • Working with Management to ensure an effective and timely pasture management schedule is executed during the summer; and to maintain a productive feeding program in the winter. Benefits include: • Competitive salary commensurate with a person’s experience and performance. o While group health coverage is not provided, salary will be set to where the employee could acquire insurance individually. • Full workers compensation insurance is provided. • We target a 5-day work week. We plan and work hard and efficiently during those 5 days to achieve 2 days off per week. While Saturday and Sunday feeding are required seasonally, we have enough crew to ensure each person gets two full days off each week. • Paid vacation is available and will be discussed during and interview. • Ranch truck for ranch use, including commuting to the ranch headquarters, approximately 5 miles from the available housing. • Pasture and or feed for personal horses, 5 head maximum. Horse Shoes and Nails provided. • Opportunity to work on and see other ranches and feedlots within our organization. • A couple houses are available on the ranch, a 3 bedroom one bath and a 1 bed 1 bath. !
