Description:
Hi my name is Jace Layman. I am 19 years old and currently living in Nevada. I’m on the hunt for a ranch job somewhere in the western states, preferably NV, ID, MT, or WY. I grew up in a family run outfitting business in western Montana and packed mules most of my life. I lived in Havre, MT for a few years where I would day work for friends on the weekends branding, gathering, shipping, doctoring and such. In the summers when not in school I would go to Florida for a month or two at a time and work with my aunt and uncle day working down there, which mainly consisted of gathering, working, roping, doctoring and hauling of stock. I worked on a ranch in Miles City, MT this last winter where I was in charge of feeding 1000 head of cows and calving out 80 head of heifers. I did some cowboying there but not much since I was the one feeding and calving. I can and enjoy fencing and packing salt. I can do hand labor and run equipment of just about any sort. I worked for a landscaping company for a couple years through high school where I’d run skid steer, excavator, fall trees by hand with a chainsaw and haul the equipment from job to job. I don’t have a CDL but I do have minimal experience driving trucks. I’m fine with starting colts and riding green horses though I don’t claim to be a horse trainer. I don’t have any horses I’d bring with me but I’d have a dog I would like to bring. She is not a cow dog though she is well mannered and well house trained. I also have all my own gear including bridles, two saddles and a good half ton pickup. I do have references available upon request.
