If you are looking for a nicely broke, easy to ride horse for arena work and trails, something that won’t break the bank, then take a look at Candy. She is a well made 16 year old sorrel mare with tons of chrome, from her a flaxen mane to her big blaze face and high white socks. She is sure to get you noticed! Candy is 14.3 hh, stout with a big foot, good hip, and plenty of bone. She was started as a reiner and has an excellent handle. In more recent years she has been used as a trail horse and lesson horse, and has been ridden English, Western, and bareback. She would make a nice playday horse too, with her handle. Candy has an extremely smooth trot, the kind you could sit to all day long and not get sore. She will spin, has a good stop, knows her leads, will sidepass, and move off your leg. She rides very quiet in the arena and is suitable for advanced beginners on up, on trails she can be a little looky so best suited to intermediate or better riders. Candy had been turned out for over a year when I got her from some friends who had owned her for many, many years, and the video was done on the fourth ride since pulling her straight out of the pasture a month ago. She gets better every time we ride her and with a little more tuning will get her really fancy handle back. Candy is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and will go up, over or through anything you point her at. She rides quietly on a loose rein, and is very responsive to her rider’s cues. Candy can be ridden by herself or with other horses, will happily lead or follow, and doesn’t mind being ridden in a large group. She gets along well in the herd but is also happy by herself, is easy to catch, great for the ferrier, and loads and hauls well.
