Description:
Champ is an extremely well-trained, talented little performance horse. 11 years old, stands 13.3 hands, stout with lots of muscle. He is registered with the American Quarter Pony Association. He is a flashy sorrel gelding with some chrome, coon tail, and roaning throughout his coat – Smart Chic Olena type. He is a rockstar arena horse!



Champ does well in all the Versatility Ranch Horse events – I’ve taken him to two different shows and he won High Point Overall at one and Reserve Champion (Limited Non-Pro) at the other. He lopes pretty reining circles, stops hard and rolls back, and turns around. He moves off your leg, sidepasses, and works a gate like a pro. Soft in the face and carries himself nicely. He is very cowy and enjoys working cattle. And he will perform a pretty trail pattern through various obstacles.



Champ is also a finished heel horse. Don’t let his size fool you, he is gritty and will take a jerk. He really enjoys roping the Hot Heels. He has been brought along slowly and kept quiet in the box. Champ would make an awesome high school rodeo horse! In addition to team roping, my young neighbor has done some breakaway roping on him, and also lightly patterned him on the barrels and poles.



He is very respectful on the ground: good to groom, saddle, bathe, clip, shoe, and load in the trailer. Easy keeper. Up to date on his vaccinations/deworming and has a current Coggins. Champ would be great for a quiet confident youth or adult (not for a beginner). He does not enjoy trail riding or ranch work outside, he excels in the arena. I’ve had Champ for 6 years, and am very proud of this horse and hope someone else will go on and continue to enjoy him.
