Spend your winters in the Az valley maintaining the 5 acre property and your summers in the cooler mountains of Williams, Az. Looking after the 10 acre property. We currently have 5 horses in residence but can be as low as 2 and up to 6. We will have rental guests at the Valley property so the right candidate must be able to represent property owners. Basic duties are care and feeding of horses, bathing horses as needed, mucking stalls and pastures, being onsite when owners are away, taking out and bringing in of garbage bins weekly, groundskeeping, weeding, painting trees, knowledge of composting very handy, maintaining owners pool, fixing whatever breaks (i.e. waterers, sprinklers, leaks, electric wires, fencing, etc.),going to the store to get supplies. Good skills to have are pasture maintenance, welding, MUST have knowledge of horsecare, and light doctoring. Training experience highly appreciated but not necessary. Ability to use farm machinery and competency in fixing them a must. The vast majority of large equipment needed (tractor, riding mower, atv, dump trailer, etc.) provided. If you have your own smaller tools please bring them. The more of the following skills you have the better: Knowledge of pasture maintenance, welding, electric, fixing fencing, landscape/grounds-keeping,pool maintenance,composting, plumbing,sprinkler/bubbler repair, knowledge of fixing large machinery, handyman/fix-it type work such as fixing automatic waterers as they break, plumbing, light electrical work, fixing fencing, knowledge of equine hoof care, basic doctoring of equine, equine nutrition, knowledge of training/tuning up/exercising equine. We are offering a fully furnished, covered, and hooked up RV 30-37 ft at both properties, ranch truck for running ranch errands and for commuting between properties, cable, internet, cable with all the channels, electric (upto $80 per month), water, washer and dryer for use in the tack room, private gated entrance and negotiable salary dependent upon experience, skill set and performance, as well as how many horses you bring with you.) We also offer starting paid days off away from the farm at 10 weekdays and 4 weekend paid days off per year with notice, unless you have your own horses that will be on property when you are away. We welcome a well behaved dog or two but expect them to have manners around the horses or be kept on leash. The Gilbert location is in town but feels like it isn’t. Located conveniently close to stores, dining, entertainment and amenities. In Williams we back right to a mountain and DAYS of riding trails., fishing, hunting, hiking. We are a bit more remote in Williams, 20min to the closest store or town, 45 min to Flagstaff. There is some storage available. We are really pretty laid back and aren’t sticklers on when the work gets done, as long as it gets done within a reasonable timeframe. We also will be renting out the guest house as a B and B for short term travelers with horses. You will be responsible for mucking out guest stalls after guest has turned their horse out for the day. If you have no horses of your own or in your care on the property we are pretty reasonable with days/nights away from the property, we just require proper notice (as long as it is when we are in town). We ask for no drama, no drugs, no alcoholics, sorry-no children, and no slackers. If you are looking for a 12 hr day, 7 day a week job of hard work in and out of the saddle working cows and killing coyotes then this is not the job for you. If you have a good work ethic, are self motivated, can prioritize and self schedule then its not terribly hard work. This is a private contractor position, not employee. What we DO NOT offer: health ins, workers comp, a side of beef, summers off, a larger salary to take care of your own animals and start your own business, a party pad, handouts.
