Description:
Our operation is looking for someone who enjoys working alone or with a small team. Someone who wants to be given responsibility and then left alone. We are looking for an individual to care for our cow herd that is a self starter and doesn’t want or need a lot of daily oversight. All aspects of daily care of the cattle will be the responsibility of the person we hire. We value an inquisitive mind and a desire to continually improve the current management practices.



Someone that is familiar with, and skilled in the techniques of Bud Williams would be a preferred candidate. An interest in intensive grazing management and soil health improvement is also a desired quality we are seeking in a potential employee.



Daily responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, calving, herd health, sorting, pasture management, cattle feeding, weaning, fencing and haying. There may be times during the year that we need the ranch employee to assist on the farming operation.



Our farm and ranch has a 400 hd commercial cow/calf herd and a heifer development program. We calve in May and June utilizing the Sandhills calving method. Cattle spend the summer on native range. Breeding starts in August and we primarily use natural service. Weaning is typically done in the late fall or early winter and calves are backgrounded until they are sold. Cattle are run on crop residues and cover crops during the winter.
