Description:
Star is an 8 year old grade gelding. Built like a brick house! Handsome as they come. Good mind, been ranched on most of his life. Hardy, gentle, friendly. Can be a touch hot, but never rude. Handles a rope well, was told he doctored calves before I got him, I used him as a help horse to start some pretty tough colts and he handled it like a PRO. Neck reins and moves off your leg. Probably be a real nice head horse prospect. That being said, he’s ***NOT fancy broke***. My definition of fancy broke is being free in his shoulders, stops on the hind, knows the basics of a turnaround, knows their leads, and super light in the mouth/face. He does stop (if you know how to ask him), he does turnaround (not correct but enough to work), he does pick up the correct lead (most of the time), but isn’t super soft and isn’t too light on his front end. He’s never done anything dangerous. He would be great to go pasture rope and long trot big country. That being said he does trail ride beautifully, and is a super cute little English pony to boot! Rides in anything but handles best in a ring snaffle. He’s a real nice horse, handy to have around. I just don’t rope enough to justify keeping him, even though I’d love to have him stick around as he’s currently my go-to for anything and everything. Advanced/confident beginner with guidance would be okay, but I’d prefer a more experienced rider on him. Located near Calhan, CO. Asking price $7k is negotiable to a good home.
