CALLING ALL TRAIL RIDERS! Are you looking for a sturdy made, point and go, go anywhere, do anything, spook-free type of horse to be your new ride? Then keep reading because man, oh man, have I got the perfect horse for you. "Smoke" is the ultimate trail horse! Very sure footed, loves to explore and enjoys long leisurely rides. Smoke is a strikingly handsome 7 year old buckskin gelding that has been well-educated, so much so he has an automatic button where he will side pass over to the rail, step, or even you on the ground so all you do is step on and go. He is also more than well exposed to all sorts of things and places. He has been to more state and national parks for some fun trail rides than most people will ever see in a lifetime! Over night trips, out of state trips, week long camp outs, elk hunts and was even part of a search and rescue team to help locate someone that needed assistance. Smoke is the fond of all things involving trail riding as I’m sure you can tell but I’ll jump into the nitty gritty just in case. I think that in another life Smoke must have been a “sea horse” because he LOVES getting in the water and for a cool swim in the river or lake. But the water isn’t the only thing he will cross without an ounce of hesitation! You can bet the farm that Smoke will skillfully handle any sort of hindrance, dilemma or commotion you may encounter. Snake slithering across your path? He doesn’t care. Flock of birds flying out of the bush next to you and you let out a screech so shrill that it’d put a 6 year old girl to shame because you weren’t expecting it? So what. Some fitness guru riding past you on his bike in the midst of his 75 mile “vacation” trip? Smoke will act like it never even happened. Tree fell down from the rainstorm that you’ve been caught in for the past 20 minutes and it’s blocking your path? Smoke will go over, through, or around it without a question asked. I know some of these scenarios seem comical but let’s be honest, they’re real. Things happen. And being caught in the middle of them on a horse that hasn’t had the experience to handle them properly is less than desirable to say the least. Urban settings are no sweat for him either! He rides the same in the city as he does out in the wide open. Smoke is insanely fun to ride around in the arena! Has a cute, soft little jog but will extend out into a ground covering long trot when you ask and has a lope so comfortable that it’ll make your lazy boy recliner jealous! Collects softly into the bridle, neck reins, lopes circles, side passes, has a good stop and back up. Smoke has lots of exposure to cattle too! He has pushed cows, tracked the lead steer/calf sled, and helped pen cattle in the feed yard and drive calves to water. Smoke has a “can do” attitude; always ready and willing to do whatever you have planned for the day and won’t quit you until you are ready to call it a day. We have also been working with Smoke on all of our crazy desensitizing training and shenanigans such as the parachute, soccer ball, fireworks and he has been great. He actually walked over the parachute on the first attempt without ever having been around it before. After playing around with that, we picked it right up and carried it around for a lap. Smoke has been more than tolerant of all that we’ve asked him to do and has never offered buck or rear. Smoke is well versed in his ground manners; easy to catch lead, load, haul, bathe, groom, pick feet, saddle, bridle, stands great for the vet and farrier, and it should be illegal how easy he is to mount, just raise your hand and smooch and Smoke will sidepass to you no matter how far or what you are stepping from to get on him with. He gets along with all my other horses regardless of their gender and even has a soft spot for my little mini ponies. He is a sweet boy and has a lot to offer! Smoke comes with a clean bill of health, up to date on vaccinations, deworming, coggins, and his teeth were floated by a licensed professional as well. Standing 14.3 hands with great conformation, durable black hooves he’s perfect for any size rider!
