Openings Available for Summer Range Riding/Cowboy Position(s) in the Pahsimeroi Valley

• Cow/calf operation running on several allotments from May 15th through September 30th.

• Operation takes a holistic view to range management. We incorporate rangeland health, long-term plant vigor, cattle performance, and riparian area health into our rangeland management approach.

• This operation focuses on keeping cattle on good feed throughout the summer, with an emphasis on utilizing older feed or under-utilized sections of the grazing units.

• Cow herd will be split multiple times to graze several units at once. Riding every day will be expected to keep cattle performance and rangeland health metrics at a satisfactory level.

• Nice meadow for your personal horses to graze.

• Rider(s) will be responsible for irrigation of horse meadow, and meadows used for fall feed. No haying.

• Rider(s) will join me in helping neighbors on their ranges throughout the summer. Everybody helps everybody, and it’s a good way for you to meet some great people.

• Stunning country to ride, set between the Big Lost and Lemhi ranges of central Idaho. High desert flats lead into quality bunchgrass hills finally leading into alpine meadow and timber.

• This is a unique opportunity with an understanding cow herd owner. Flexibility and time off for summer rodeos, weddings, helping neighbors etc. is understood and expected.

• Modern camper with fridge and heat will be provided. Nearest town with groceries is 50 miles out.

• Pickup and trailer may be provided. If you want to use your own rig, we will work something out to make it a good deal for all parties.

• Candidates must have own horses.
