His name says it all…Steady Eddie. If you want one that is the same every time you ride him, quiet and safe for the entire family, then check him out. Steady Eddie is a cute 14.3 hh, 15 year old gelding. He is a retired ranch horse looking for a family to spoil him and take care of him. Steady Eddie is the type of horse you can throw out on your ranch and pull up a few times a year for visitors to ride, and know he will take good care of them. Or let the grandkids ride him out on the ranch with Grandpa and work cattle. Steady Eddie has been used for all phases of ranch work and nothing at all bothers him. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. Steady Eddie is no hotrod, he prefers to walk and trot. He will lope but it takes a lot of pushing. He has some arthritis in his hind end from all the years of hard work on the ranch and honestly he just doesn’t want to lope anymore. But he has a nice smooth trot, a good one handed neck rein, and stops easily. Steady Eddie is worth his weight in gold for that family just wanting something safe and slow to take care of them. We bought him several months ago out of a bad situation, where he was not being fed or taken care of properly. We have put over 100 pounds on him and he still remains just as quiet and gentle as he was before, without even the slightest change in his demeanor. He still is a bit thin and needs to continue to gain weight. Steady Eddie will meet you at the gate and beg for attention, and is so sweet with excellent ground manners. He can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. H has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Asking $2500.
