If you are looking for a stout, athletic, flashy horse to ride on the ranch, on trails, or rope off of, and need one that’s not too far off the ground, then take a look at Galan. He is a cute 11 year old paint gelding, 14hh and stout enough to carry a man (the man in the video is 6’2” and 220 lbs). Galan is very well built, with a big hip, plenty of bone, and a cute head with a kind eye. He came off of a ranch out in west Texas, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and checking fence. Galan is extremely athletic and quick footed, and even though he is short coupled he is very smooth to ride. He has been taught to travel out and can keep up with the big horses out in the pasture. Galan is extremely gentle with excellent ground manners, and has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, even if not ridden regularly. When I bought him he had been turned out for nearly two years, and he rode right off with zero problems. Galan is friendly and good minded, and always tries to be good and do what you ask him to do. He would be an excellent horse for someone wanting to learn how to rope, as he is very patient and quiet and no matter where the rope ends up he never gets bothered by it. Galan is an excellent ranch horse but also is quiet enough to make a nice trail horse and athletic and quick enough to make one heck of a calf horse or breakaway horse. I think he is also suitable for an experienced youth rider. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. Galan has a good handle and stop, will sidepass, work a gate, and will go up, over or through anything you point him at. He rides just as quiet in a new place as he does at home, and loads and hauls like a champ. Galan can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Asking $8500. Galan has good ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to load, haul and shoe. He can be a little tough to catch in a large pasture. He has a bump on the side of his right hind ankle, but he is sound and it does not affect his movement.
