If you are looking for a good using horse that is gentle for the entire family, then take a look at Sonny. He is a nicely built sorrel gelding, short and stout, 14.3 hh with a big hip, wide chest and a pretty head with a kind eye. Sonny is 10 years old and sells as GRADE. He is just about as gentle as they come, and has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, and is the same horse every time you ride him. He is quiet and good minded, very willing and takes good care of his rider. Sonny has been used for all phases of ranch work including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, dragging bulls into the trailer, and checking fence. He rides quietly on a loose rein, with an excellent handle and stop. He has also been heeled off of in the arena, carried a flag, and packed the grandkids and visitors around the ranch. Sonny is laid back but responsive, and rides quietly on a loose rein. He is content to walk all day long if you prefer, but will easily step into a trot or lope when asked. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problems, and isn’t spooky. Sonny is good on both leads, will do flying lead changes, work off your leg, sidepass and work a gate. He rides just as good bareback with a halter as he does with a saddle and bridle, and my 4 year old rides him all by himself in the round pen. Sonny will go up, over or through anything you point him at. He can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Asking $10,000. Sonny has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to catch, load, haul and shoe.
