If you are looking for a solid, well broke ranch gelding to use on the ranch or ride on trails, who will be the same every time you ride him, then take a look at Spike. He carries the Spike Box Ranch brand and has been a slave on the ranch his entire life. He is an excellent ranch horse but has the right personality to make a nice trail horse as well. Spike is 11 years old and 15.1hh, well built with a pretty head and a kind eye. He has been used for all phases of ranch work including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, dragging bulls into the trailer, and checking fence. Spike rides quietly on a loose rein, with an excellent handle and stop. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He will sidepass, work a gate, and is good on both leads. Spike is cowy and has roped and doctored thousands of cattle in his lifetime, and would be a good horse for someone wanting to learn how to rope and work cattle. He has an extremely smooth trot that you could sit to all day long, and a nice rocking horse lope that is very easy to sit to. Spike can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it.
