"Dakota" is a gentleman that has no problem waiting around on you all day long, and you just can’t help but like him from the moment you meet him. But with that said, he’s very functional too! He’s put in hours and REAL working miles in on the ranch helping gather, check and sort cattle. He absolutely LOVES being outside whether there’s work to be done on the ranch or you want to hit the trails and go out for a nice, long ride - he’s happy to oblige. He is a stellar trail riding horse - easy going and happy to walk along on a loose rein. Whether it be up and down hills or rocky trails, crossing or swimming through deep water, maneuvering through thick brush, he makes it effortless. Not scared of cows, goats, pedestrians, traffic, or smoke bombs (check out the video for yourself). He will ride out alone or in a group; in either the lead or bringing up the rear, whichever you prefer - without any kind of fuss! He isn’t barn or buddy sour either so you don’t have to worry about that, and if you’re someone who doesn’t have time to ride consistently, you don’t have to worry about that either. You can let "Dakota" sit for long periods of time and pull him up to ride with confidence knowing he will be the same horse you last rode, which isn’t the case for all horses. No buck, rear, or bolting, he will just wait around on you to tell him what to do! "Dakota" is a very fluid mover, all of his gaits are smooth and easy to sit. He has a nice, slow jog or will extend out into a faster trot and also has a very comfortable lope. His stop/back up is nice, will pick up both leads, and has a good neck rein. This guy is pretty simple and uncomplicated to ride, he’s had riders of all ages on him - from 7 to 57 years old and every one always enjoys getting to take him for a spin just because he’s so mellow and relaxing. He rides just as good bareback in a halter as he does with a bridle and saddle too! You can climb all over him and he will stand there patiently. Stands like a statue for mounting/dismounting and is even broke to use a mounting block! Standing at 15.1 hands and weighing around 1150 lbs, "Dakota" is quite frankly the PERFECT size and is built to last. "Dakota" stands to be groomed, saddled, bathed, and pick up all 4 feet. This guy is sound - no maintenance or special care/feed required. And I will say it again to iterate how laid back this horse is - he doesn’t get fresh with time off - no lunging, trick, gimmicks, or drama. He can literally sit for months and you can saddle him right up, hop on and go! He has good ground manners and stands quietly to be groomed, saddled, bathed, etc. Loads/unloads in the trailer without any hesitation and hauls great as well!
