If you have been searching for a good pony, one that is really broke, with no bad habits that will get your kids hurt, then take a look at Blackberry. They don’t come around like him very often. He is a 12.1hh solid black pony gelding, 11 years old and cute as can be. Blackberry was raised and trained by a good little cowboy, riding him on the ranch next to his grandpa, so he rides just like a mini ranch horse. He has absolutely no bad pony habits, he has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, he will not run a kid under a tree, into a fence, or back to the barn, and he will ride off by himself. Blackberry has been used on the ranch, to sort and pen cattle, and rope and drag calves. He may be little but he has a ton of heart and try and can keep up and even sometimes outwalk the big horses. Blackberry has also played around on barrels, he has carried a flag, and has even done some simple obstacles. He ponies like a champ or rides off lead, with no typical pony napoleon complex. Blackberry has been taught to travel out and rides quietly on a loose rein, with the smoothest trot and lope ever. Even at an extended trot he is so smooth you can sit to it all day long. He does take some pushing to get into a lope, but once he is loping he is easy to keep in a lope. Blackberry has an excellent stop, is very light mouthed, and backs up properly. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and is very sure footed. He will go up, over or through anything you point him at, even if the brush is taller than he is. Blackberry has a good handle and will work a gate, and a kid can get a rope tangled all around him and he will just patiently wait for you to get it figured out. He is very patient and forgiving, and extremely willing and good minded. Blackberry can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. No pony is perfect, and Blackberry has two things he needs work on. He is a little nervous on the ground, as though someone has not been nice to him at some point. He needs to have a little groundwork done to gain trust in people catching him and messing with him on the ground, but by no means is he mean or dangerous. My 4 year old son goes in his pen and pets him and Blackberry is very good and gentle with him, but he does require a more experienced child to handle and ride him at this time. He also requires a farrier to be patient with him, as he does not like someone who moves quickly around his feet when trimming. But he is good to pick up and clean out his feet. With a little finishing out this will be the most amazing pony ever. Asking $3000. Blackberry has good ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to load and haul.
