He is 100% safe, gentle, dependable and trustworthy, both in the arena and out in the pasture. We have owned shorty for over 2 years and he is the horse that always gets saddled when a kid comes to the ranch wanting to take their very first ride on a horse. Shorty is GRADE, 15 years old and the perfect size at 14.2hh, not too far off the ground but also big enough an adult could ride him as well. He DOES HAVE NAVICULAR in his right front, so he is selling as sound for light riding for a child or smaller adult. He will not pass a vet check but he still enjoys being ridden and has plenty to offer for many more years. But he is worth his weight in gold for how safe he is. Shorty has been used on the ranch and also shown back when he was younger in ranch versatility, so he is comfortable both in the arena and out in the pasture. He has an excellent handle and a soft mouth so even the smallest child can easily steer him and stop him. You can ride him once a week or once a year and he will still be the same horse, with absolutely no bucking, rearing, biting, kicking or other bad habits. Shorty is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. He is quiet and laid back and rides on a loose rein, but will easily step into a trot or lope if asked. Shorty has a smooth jog and rocking horse lope that are very easy to ride, and will sidepass and work a gate as well. He can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, will happily lead or follow, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Asking $1500. Shorty has excellent ground manners, stands quietly tied, and is easy to catch, load, haul and shoe.
