Aino is a 3 year old male border collie. He is ABCA & AKC Registered. He has been OFA tested for hips and elbows. He has Good hips and Normal elbows. I had planned to have him as a competition sport dog. He knows a ton of commands: Sit, Heel, Down, Settle, Back Up, Stand, Stay, Spin, Shy, High Five, Right Paw, Left Paw, Roll Over, Get It, Come, Go, Wait, Leave It, Find your frisbee, target, over, close mouth, wave, touch, hugs, up, and some I can’t think of right now. He is muzzle and crate trained. He is clicker trained and both food and treat motivated. He is off-leash and whistle trained. He works well on a harness or collar, and responds well to training. He LOVES frisbees and could make an awesome disc dog with more training. He also has had training in agility and is so far proficient in jumps, tires, tunnels, and has had training on weave poles. He’s pretty good but needs more work. He has completed obedience training and is very well behaved. He has a TON of drive. He has a lot of herding instinct and shows a ton of potential with someone that can train him in it. He would make an amazing competition dog but he has some flaws in his temperament that just don’t work with us. He loves water and has been trained to leap and bite a bumper, so if someone wanted to train him for dock diving he could be a major competitor. He is FAST and loves to work. He is a people pleasing dog and wants to be right next to you 24/7. He is crate trained but prefers to be by your side if possible. He gets obsessed over toys easily, and has issues with personal boundaries. His breeder and former owner never socialized him as a puppy so he doesn’t know how to play with other dogs. He is friendly towards all animals and dogs, but just is very awkward. He has experience with cats, but they have hit him in the face so he’s a little fearful. He has an obsession with drinking water and will drink up to a gallon today if allowed to, even if he throws it up. He has had tons of distraction and leash training but still tries to pull on the leash some, and still gets distracted easily. He has an extremely high sex drive. He will hump other dogs even with training, he marks a lot, he has been known to put his nose in guest’s genitals, and he has a tendency to smell out females if he can. Loves to ride in the car in both the cargo hold or the front seat. He’s well behaved in public spaces as long as he has thoroughly gone to the bathroom, he has has accidents in stores before. Very well behaved in the house, but will get into open cups of water if allowed to. I’ve never had him dig in the trash, destroy anything, or mark in the house intentionally. No health issues, he’s been regularly taken to the vet. Just got his rabies vaccine renewed, he’s on flea prevention. He’s heart worm negative but not on heartworm prevention yet. Microchipped, vaccinated fully, and ready to go. Not neutered. He is currently on a high protein high energy diet. He eats Merrick Back Country raw infused kibble with Instinct raw food toppers, salmon oil, and Only Natural Pet vitamin supplement. We love him and will not let him go to just anybody. I am trying to be as detailed as possible with my description of him, including his flaws so that someone that is the right fit can pick him up. He is a beautiful. brilliant, loving dog that would make the right person very happy. He just doesn’t have the right attitude to mesh with me. He is very lacking in confidence and gets very upset when told no. You have to be encouraging and willing to support him.
