If you are looking for a gentle, stout gelding to pack visitors around the ranch or you around on trails, then take a look at Soldier. He is an 18 year old gelding, 15.1 hh and nicely built with a big hip, wide chest and plenty of bone. Soldier is extremely gentle and has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, even if not ridden regularly. He is the type of horse you can just pull out of the pasture, saddle up and hop on and not worry about getting bucked off, even if you haven’t ridden him in a month or so. Soldier grew up on a big ranch in West Texas where he was used for all phases of ranch work, and has spent the second half of his life as a pleasure horse, just packing people around the ranch and on trails. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. Soldier rides quietly on a loose rein, preferring to be slow but very easy to kick up into a faster gear if you prefer. He has a really good one handed neck rein, travels out nicely, and stops easily. Soldier can be ridden by himself or with other horses, will happily lead or follow, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. Soldier would be better suited to an adult who is at least an intermediate rider, as he has a big stride.
