You could drive the wheels off of your truck and trailer trying to find another gelding as nice as this one. Valentine is the real deal, a true all around horse that can and will do anything you ask of him. He has everything going for him, from his color, to his amazing mind and gentle nature, to his great training. Valentine is a 9 year old gelding, black as two feet down a stove pipe and with 4 white socks. He is 15.2 hh and extremely stout, weighing approx. 1250 pounds, with a ton of bone, a wide chest, big hip and a kind eye. He is APHA registered as “Smokin Valentine Man” #1050258. Valentine is very well bred, out of old foundation stock, tracing back to Blue Valentine, Gooseberry, King and Hancock. No horse is perfect, but he is pretty close. He is NOT 100% sound, he does have ringbone in his left front and will require bute when ridden or twice yearly injections to stay sound. That is why he is priced so low for what he is. He is a total gentleman on the ground, with a sweet, friendly nature and a willing attitude. Valentine has spent the majority of his life on a ranch out in North Texas, where he was used for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and checking fence. We have ponied colts off of him and they can literally climb all over him and it won’t bother him. Valentine is stout, tough, and could pull a house down if you asked him to. He is strong to the horn and good on the end of a rope, never getting excited or upset when working cattle. He has also carried the flag in grand entries and the noise, lights and chaos don’t bother him one bit. Valentine is an excellent ranch horse but also enjoys just a leisurely ride down the trails and would be perfectly content as someone’s trail horse and best friend. He is laid back and quiet, yet responsive, and will adjust himself to the level of his rider. He will not take advantage of a less experienced rider and will step up his game for someone who really knows what they are doing. Valentine is broke to death, with an excellent one handed neck rein, and will spin, slide to a stop, do beautiful rollbacks and work off your leg. He will sidepass and work a gate and has wonderfully smooth gaits that are easy to sit to. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. Valentine can be ridden out by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it. We have hauled him all over and he is always the same quiet horse everywhere we take him.
