If you have been looking for a gentle, very well broke, flashy mule, then take a look at Jasper. He is the nicest mule I have ever ridden, and was bred, raised and trained by a gentleman in his 70s. The man recently became unable to ride any longer so we are helping find Jasper a new home that will appreciate him. Jasper is 9 years old and 14.2 hh, with excellent conformation and the prettiest little face. He is very easy to handle, easy to catch, loves people, is not ear shy, loads and hauls well, and is great with his feet. Jasper has never bucked, kicked, bit or done anything nasty, even when he was first being broke. He is extremely gentle and kind, good minded, and easy to train. When we got him he had not been ridden in over two years, and the video, done just a couple days ago, was his third ride since we pulled him out of the pasture. Jasper is an extremely smooth ride with a wonderful trot and rocking horse lope. He is good on both leads, really travels out well in the pasture, and is easy to stop, turn and back up with just a bosal or bitless bridle. Jasper is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, will cross water, and isn’t spooky. Show him something one time and he’s got it from then on. He will ride in the back, front or middle of the pack, rides along the road, and will lope pretty circles in the arena as well. We have even roped off him a handful of times and he isn’t bothered by it. To my knowledge he has never been packed off of or pulled a cart. No mule is perfect and if I had to pick on Jasper, he could use a little work on his ground manners. He will move around if tied by himself, but not if he is by another horse. He rides out alone fine but if riding with a group he prefers to stay with the group. However, he will leave the others without too much fuss, he lets you know he would rather stay with the others but absolutely does not do anything dangerous.
