Description:
Rare Figueroa half breed bit. The hand engraved silver concho’s are 2 1/2". The shanks are 7 1/2" long with hand engraved silver overlays. The half breed mouth piece measures 5". The slobber bar is overlayed with hand engraved silver and has 3 silver domes. comes with original rein chains which have two brass tags that appear to be museum id’s. One has the number 228, the other has CEI on one side and 25 on the other. Has the rare J. Figueroa, L A California mark. This bit is pictured on page 106 of Ned and Jody Martin’s book "Bit and spur makers in the Vaquero tradition". Came from the collection of well known bit & spur maker Chuck Irwin.
