We currently run 600 cows split between spring and fall, with more calving in the fall. Calves are then backgrounded after weaning and then sold. We are looking for someone willing to learn new things to stay in touch with our ever-changing industry. We strive to promote a family friendly atmosphere and give our employees the opportunity to develop professionally. Job Responsibilities (Include but not limited to): • Communicate daily with ranch manager on status of projects and herd health • Assist in management of our cow herd (feed, health, grazing, etc.) • Maintain & improve facilities & fences • Make recommendations of facility improvement and assist in its implementation (fences, corrals, etc.) • Run hay equipment during the summer • Operate tractor and mower/sprayer to clean up pastures • Run feed wagon throughout the winter • Work cattle during scheduled vaccinations and assist in herd heath evaluations Skills Required • Ability to communicate with others (ranch manager, coworkers, neighbors, etc.) • Detail oriented • Self-starter, highly motivated, and able to complete projects with limited or no direct supervision once trained • Desire to improve processes and efficiency throughout the operation • Possess the ability for strategic planning for the future of the operation and ability to see projects through to completion • Ability to work long hours (60+ hours/week during peak seasons which include calving and hay) • Able to handle inclement weather (heat, cold, freezing rain, etc.) • Time management (yours and part time workers) Skills Preferred • Low stress cattle handling • Basic mechanics • Ability to artificially inseminate would be helpful, but not required Salary/Benefits: • Employee housing on site w/electrical and water utilities included, and a large 2 car/truck carport • After 6 months of employment: o 1 Week vacation o 1 Week Sick Leave • After 1 year of Employment: o 1 additional week of vacation • Opportunities for professional development and training • Beef at least 1 time per year and as available • Salary based on experience Posted 07-31-19 8221 visitors have viewed this ad
