Description:
If you are looking for a gentle, stout horse to ride on trails and use on the ranch, then take a look at Holly. She is 15.1 hh and 1250 lbs, well built with a big hip, wide chest and plenty of bone. Holly started out as a black and white paint and has since faded out to where she is basically a grey. Holly is 15 years old and sound with no health or soundness issues. She is gentle and nicely broke, with a pretty good handle and an excellent stop. She has been used on the ranch for all phases of ranch work, including sorting pairs, roping and doctoring cattle in the pasture, and checking fence. We have also ponied off of her and have ridden her English and taken her over some small jumps. Holly is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. She is very sure footed and will go up, over or through anything you point her at. She has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick or take off, but because of her size she is best suited to an adult intermediate or better rider. Holly rides quietly on a loose rein and is laid back but responsive, content to walk quietly all day long but will easily step into a trot or lope when asked.She can be ridden by herself or with other horses, will happily lead or follow, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. She has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and is not bothered by it. Holly isn’t mare-ish and stays turned out with both mares and geldings with no problem. Holly just had her coggins pulled and teeth floated. She can be tough to catch in a large pasture and moves around a little when tied or being saddled, but overall is gentle and easy to work with. $2500 Call Wendy for more info at 210-363-1883.
