It was purchased directly from Woody Crumbo in the 1970’s and was still shrink wrapped. The shrink wrap was removed for the photographs. The silk screen is in excellent condition and it comes with nice heavy double mat with a red back mat and a black window mat. It also includes the backing board so it will be ready to frame. The silk screen is pencil signed and titled by the artist. At the bottom of the mat he wrote Original Silk Screen Print Measurements: Silk Screen Inside Mat Dimensions a little less than 12 ½” x a little less than 16 ½”, Outside Mat Dimensions 22” x 28” About the Artist: “Woody” Crumbo was born Woodrow Wilson Crumbo on January 21, 1912 in Lexington, Oklahoma. His background spans several tribes of Indians. He was born of the Potawatomi Tribe and lived with a Creek family as a boy. His early schooling was at a Government Indian School in Chilocco, Oklahoma. Crumbo was widely known for his etching, silk screens and paintings. He is represented by six large murals in the new Department of Interior Building, Washington, DC., about 175 paintings in the Gilcrease Museum’s permanent collection, Tulsa, Oklahoma and in other public building as well as many museums and private collections throughout the United States. In a period of six years he won 14 first place awards plus six scholarships. In 1945 he was awarded the coveted Julius Roswenwald fellowship.
