If you are looking for a young horse with a good mind and a ton of athletic ability, with a pedigree to die for, then take a look at Checkers. He is one of the gentlest and most willing 3 year olds you will ever find. This colt is only 3 but acts more like a 10 year old. Checkers is a cute little cremello gelding, 14.2 hh with a pretty face and a kind eye. He is extremely well bred, by an own son of NRHA Hall of Famer Nu Chex to Cash and out of a granddaughter of NRHA Hall of Famer Hollywood Jac 86. Checkers is AQHA registered as “LR Silver Ice Chex” #5619559. He is athletic and has a ton of potential. Checkers has the mind to make a nice pleasure horse or ranch horse, but has the athletic ability to make a reiner or performance horse with some finishing. He is a pleasure to ride out in the pasture, crosses water with no problem, and isn’t spooky. In fact, there is absolutely nothing that scares him or bothers him. Checkers is a fancy mover, and for a small horse he has a big stride and has been taught how to move out in the pasture. He rides quietly on a loose rein, laid back but responsive. He is happy walking quietly all day long if you prefer, but will easily step into a trot or lope when asked. Checkers has nice smooth gaits and a soft mouth. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body, and has never offered to buck, rear, bite, kick, or take off, even when he was first started. Although I hate to recommend a young horse for a youth rider, he is safe enough that an experienced youth could safely ride him and would be an excellent 4h horse. Checkers can be ridden by himself or with other horses, and doesn’t mind being separated from the group. He has also been ridden alongside the road and in traffic and isn’t bothered by it.
