Available now: 18 April & May heifer calves. All sired by purebred, registered Longhorn bulls from Lazy JL Longhorns at Crawford, NE. So they are all at least half Longhorn. Calves mothers are mainly purebred Hereford, all their mothers have been home-raised from our long-standing herd of Hereford cows. We use Longhorn bulls on all our yearling heifers to guarantee super easy calving for their first calves - the Longhorn genetics provide extra vigor too! A few of the heifers are from Longhorn/Hereford cross mothers making them 3/4 Longhorn, and a few are from F1 black baldy mothers. Most have horns intact, a few have been dehorned or are naturally polled thanks to the Angus influence of the F1 mothers. All are vigorous and extremely healthy, ready to go now! We have kept several of these breed of calves over the years for our own herd and will confidently say they make great mothers and can raise some surprisingly large and easy-fleshing calves when crossed back to Angus or Hereford sires. We’ve heard good reports about crossing them with Charolais bulls as well. Colors are: black and white, red and white, black with brockle faces, solid black.
