Quality in Hereford Cattle is a trait that has been our single focus since 1914. Brite registered the Bar-Crossbrand in 1904, the year he established the the foundation for the present herd.

The Brite Ranch breeding program develops cattle that are based around the traits of fertility, longevity, performance-based, with good disposition, and heavy pigmentation



Brite Cattle are adopted to the semi- arid desert climate and landscape of the Southwest. These cattle thrive in harsh conditions with very little feed. Our cattle have been sent for years throughout the United States and Mexico with great acceptance and success.



History



In 1885, Lucas Charles Brite settled his herd of cattle at the foot of Capote Mountain, Presidio County, Texas.

Brite Ranch purebred Hereford operation began in 1904 when L.C. Brite bought resisters heifers from The Wyoming Herferd Ranch and Hereford herd bulls from Gudgell & Simpson.



Mr. Brite took breeding principles to another level when he closed his herd in 1914. He began raising his own bulls, avoiding the pitfalls of interbreeding by carefully selecting bulls and heifers for line-breeding. After years and years of careful oversight and highly selective line-breeding, the program continues to this day.
